Dodge Avenger car

Well we were in an accident on 11-11-11 and while our beloved Hyundai Elantra was being fixed, we were rented a Dodge Avenger. So I have quite the opinion on this car for the just over a week rental period.
The trunk though spacious and accessible from the middle pull down cup holder area in the rear seat, which my children enjoyed throwing toys and trash in there it was rather entertaining as well as revengeful for my children to throw the other child's toy in the trunk. There was water that leaked out of the trunk latch due to I believe the rear light not being sealed properly.
Most importantly the biggest compliant I have are the horrible blind spots, I nearly cut so many people it wasn't even funny. And I looked best I could and still missed seeing several cars even a truck! I also didn't like how easy it was to flip the brights on and off, I had to of blinded so many people when I used the blinker! The heater worked well, didn't get to try the air conditioner because it's cold here, so I can't comment on that part.
I noticed when locking, unlocking, and starting the car there is a bit of a delay for some reason. Like I would turn the key and it took like a couple seconds to engage the car to start, most bizarre thing I've experienced with starting a car... Same with the button unlock or lock system, it took a second or two to engage.
The steering was very touchy almost too touchy...very tight suspension, and the radius wasn't very good, I kinda expected with the tightness I could turn tighter corners but I was wrong. Didn't wreck or anything so that's a plus!
The pick up and go was the best part, there was no hesitation in gearing up to get on the highway, just those blind spots got in the way of really seeing what it could do.
The seats didn't feel like the supported my lower back like they looked like they would, which would of been nice. I couldn't see myself or my family taking it on a long drive, I mean yeah it had more room than our Hyundai, but I felt we were at the pump more often, still need to figure out if it has a smaller tank or is just that much worse on gas than our Hyundai.
Needless to say I'm very happy to have my Hyundai back.
I personally wouldn't buy the Avenger just cause the blind spots being so bad. Too life risking to trade power and tight suspension. Plus you kind of felt claustrophobic inside it and I don't know if it's because of the black interior or the high window placement or what. Just know I felt like it was closing in on me.
I heard the Dodge Charger is the same way with blind spots, and actually the Avenger was built based on the charger so it's basically a baby charger. Anyways, just thought I would share this info with you all, who ever you are. Do you own one? Do you disagree? Comment below and tell me, better yet go test drive one and then come and tell me there are no blind spots in the sucker! :-) good luck! Hope you live through it to tell me about it. Thanks for stopping by and reading this.
